Feature retrospective - Go1 Platform 2020

2020 saw us releasing our Learning app for Microsoft Teams, allowing your employees to truly learn in the flow of work. 

The app enables you and other members of your organization to find, consume, share, and discuss resources from the Go1 Content Hub right within Microsoft Teams. 

What's more, you will soon be able to share resources from the Go1 Content Hub within Microsoft Team Meetings, so you can create engaging ways to learn together, remotely. Check it out below.

Microsoft Teams core functionality 2020

Coming to Go1 Platform in 2021, Achievements offers a more flexible and robust experience for those allocating and tracking their training, and a simplified experience for learners. 

Achievements will be your new solution for delivering learning pathways and continuing professional development (CPD) for your team, so stay tuned to find out more.

You will be able to ‘set and forget’ your learning, with more dynamic enrolment capabilities. 

Within Achievements, you can allocate mandatory and optional learning so you can offer choice to your learners. A progress bar will offer a clear indication of their progress towards completion. Learning target types are more flexible and can be articulated by duration, points (just like awards), or % of total resources.

Product year in review for 2020

It has been an exciting year for Product at Go1, from exciting integrations with Microsoft apps for learners to access learning anywhere, to improving the Go1 Platform experience. Watch our product release retrospective for 2020, here.

We have had a busy couple of months here at Go1, tinkering away to enhance your experience with curating, managing, and tracking learning. 

Since our previous Product Round-up, we have released some exciting features including Go1 Playlists, which help to shorten your curation process; the ability to ‘save’ content to consume later (brilliant!); the Content Hub, to manage and share content more seamlessly with Learners; plus the ability to report by duration.

See below for a shakedown of each release with links to their How-to guides, so you have everything you need to get going.

We are excited to share that all users in your Go1 Portal will now be able to save content directly from Explore, into the new Saved tab from within My Learning!

This is hugely beneficial if you need to find content now, but want to watch at a later date.

As an Admin, this assists greatly with your curation process as you shortlist content to review and share with your Learners.

For Learners, this is a great way to keep tabs on the content you want to watch at a more convenient time.


Select and surface content to Learners with greater ease

Whether you are using the Go1 Platform or another LMS, the Content Hub offers a great improvement to your content management, and has replaced the previous Content Selection tool.

As the Administrator you have more visibility and control over your content subscription, so you can browse, curate, and share training to your learners effectively, right within your Go1 Platform. 

If you are assigning resources from the Go1 Content Hub to your Learners within another LMS, you now have the ability to export content efficiently in-bulk, streamlining the process to surface relevant content to your Learners. 

Speed up your curation process with Go1 Playlists

Playlists are carefully curated collections of Go1 Premium content, surfacing top picks against our most commonly requested topics. Playlists can assist your curation process, saving you valuable time.

Go1 Playlists cover topics you care about including Remote Working, Leadership, and Digital Skills, and will continue to grow.

The best part? Your learners can engage with the content immediately, which eases your administrative time and encourages curiosity in your learners.

The next iteration for Playlists includes the ability for Admins, Managers, and Learners to create their own Playlists. Watch this space!

What’s the time, Go1? Why, time to report by duration!

You now have the ability to report by duration in your enrolment reports, so you have greater visibility on how much content your Learners are consuming. 

Please note, duration articulated in these reports is the total length of time required to complete the learning in question.

Our new Audio Learning type is something to shout about

We are so excited to announce the latest improvements to Go1: offering learners a simpler, easier means of finding quality learning content, the ability for managers, administrators and content administrators to download historical course enrollment records, a streamlined process to access content through our 1-Player content player, and new API documentation for developers.

You can now expect a dramatically improved experience when searching for a particular item of learning within the Explore page of a Go1 Portal. 

Learners can now search across multiple content types from the one display, reducing the need to skip between tabs. Search for content across all formats, or use the Content Types filter available through More filters to target one or more specific formats.

Our most popular filters, Topic and Provider, are now front and center: reducing the noise and allowing learners to quickly find the learning they need. 

Learners can also now filter by Duration -the length of time required to complete that learning- allowing them to find the content appropriate to their situation and the time they have available, whether that be a short video, or a more in depth course. 

Selecting options within a filter will now only update search results once you tap away from that filter, resulting in a search that feels faster and smoother.

For those looking for a specific topic or piece of content, our More filters popup provides additional options so that you can further refine your search: Content types, Tags, Price, and Language.

Once you have submitted a search, for learners on portals with Go1 Premium, finding popular, quality content is now easier than ever, with results prioritising top rated learning content.

Learners searching for content can now also preview learning before enrolling. Within the search results on portals containing the majority of Go1 Premium within their Portal Content Selection, learners can click to preview the description for an item of content, without having to navigate away from search results. Organisations often have the need for staff to complete recurring training -whether to achieve compliance, or in alignment with organisational policies and procedures. To support the monitoring and reporting of this recurring training, administrators, content administrators and managers now have the ability to export all historical enrollment records for a specific course or user from the Enrollments report within Administer. The learning experience available through Go1 continues to improve, with adjustments to our content player, 1-Player, simplifying the process so that they can focus on what's important to them: the learning. 

Based on feedback provided by our customers, you can expect no more unintentional enrollments or re-enrollments, fewer steps to access learning content, and less confusion for learners on what to do next within a course. Learn how to experience the 1-Player updates.

After receiving extensive feedback from our Early Access participants and following the full release of the new content player 1-Player, we are excited to announce a number of enhancements.

🚀 New improvements to our Content Player

The below improvements to our new 1-Player display have been released to all portals over the last several weeks:

Visibility of due dates for courses, modules and learning items so that learners are always aware of any deadlines

Module descriptions, removing the need to return to My Progress or exit the 1-Player

An expandable side navigation which allows users to easier read long descriptions

General enhancements such as unifying button text, better fitting text on to buttons and providing clearer icons for some features to reduce confusion

Improved link embedding, with many links now embeddable, instead of being taken to a separate tab

Enrol directly via 1-Player, allowing external LMS users and users sharing 1-Player links to be able to enrol through 1-Player without having to go back to Explore or the content’s Overview, simplifying the process to access learning content, better meeting external LMS needs, and making sharing easier

Parameter-based configuration options for external LMSs, allowing external LMS customers to customise 1-Player's behaviour to meet their needs and LMS user interface (e.g. hiding the X close button, title, overview and close behaviours)

Look forward to seeing the following improvements in the near future:

Clearer communication to learners when they have submitted all items in a course and are waiting on their assessor to mark an assessable item. This messaging will show when submitting or finishing the last unfinished item in a course

The mobile course overview will display the item description by default

Locked learning items will display a modal on-hover

🚀 Early access: Start learning faster through our improved user flow

We have been working to simplify the journey for learners to access course content. Until now, learners could only access our improved 1-Player via the My Progress page of a course. 

Streamlining the path to accessing learning content

Now that the 1-Player contains all of the useful information previously only found on a course's My Progress page, when a learner enrols in a course they will now jump straight from the course’s Overview page to the 1-Player. Learners will also be directed straight to the 1-Player from all other areas of the platform if they are already enrolled in the course.

Note: The My Progress page will stay available during EAP to ensure no functionality is taken away from learners without warning, and to gather valuable feedback on whether the new flow is meaningful and valuable for all learners.

1-Player updates, including a new feature to trial! - Go1

Our new content player just keeps getting better and better.

1-Player enhancements for the new year - including a new feature to trial!

We are excited to announce the customer-wide launch of Go1’s new content player!

Back in September, we launched one of our most exciting features to date  - 1-Player - into early access. This new feature allows users to undertake learning in one streamlined and modern interface. 

Thank you to those customers who have been early adopters of the feature. The response to 1-Player has been really positive so far, so we are excited that 1-Player will now be generally available to all Go1 users on November 20th. 

With the aptly named 1-Player, we've reimagined your learning experience on the Go1 platform. This new feature enables you to undertake learning across all courses and standalone resources in one standardised interface.

The new content player will support the following learning resources:  

SCORM / Video / Document / Weblink / Text / LTI / Quiz / Assignment. 

For Events, users will be redirected to the standard event interface, and Integrations will be supported in a future update.

In its new form, the content player resolves the limitations our users sometimes experienced when accessing learning, whilst also introducing a new and more streamlined content player. 

Open resources via the player and view summaries of each item before confirming enrolment!  🎉🎉

The overview panel on the right side makes it easy to see the contents of a course from within the player.

Users can navigate between different items in the course without having to leave the interface!

See clear indications of your completion status

In addition to the status being show in the top right corner, a special screen will also show for each item that has been successfully completed.

An overall simple and consistent experience

Go1 users can check the status of each learning item, as well as complete items more easily and clearly with buttons always being in the same location.

When exiting 1-Player(using the X in the top left corner), users will be taken back to where they opened the learning item from. This also applies to customers accessing Go1 content in an external LMS.

🚀 User management improvements - you asked, we listened

First up, our latest update will help make your learning management experience even better, by giving Admins and Managers the ability to view (all) enrolments of a learner. 

Admins and Managers can now access a learner's enrolment history in the reports section. Simply click on the quick access menu (the three dots) next to the learner's completion record to reveal the enrolment history for a course and also download the certificates.

As an Admin or Manager, this means you can now quickly and easily view all historical enrolment information of your users and download their certificates. Previously this view could only be seen by individual learners. This update will enable easier reporting, particularly for any audit checks, and better record keeping!

These updates have been informed by your needs directly, so we look forward to hearing your feedback! 

In other learning management release news: 

We received lots of feedback when we released the learning transcript feature earlier this year, so we’ve extended this feature further to allow Managers to download their users’ learning transcripts.

We are also supporting more file extensions when users are uploading Submissions - you can now upload rtf files and .pages files which were previously unsupported. 

🚀  Say hello to new content auto-suggestions on your portal! 

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have already spotted an exciting change to the portal search bar. 

Now, when you start typing your search via the search bar,  you will see a drop-down list of suggested topics, terms, and phrases related to your keyword search, plus specific course/resource titles. 

Watch this space, as we will also be releasing related search keywords later in November as well! We are super excited about our new search features, which can help save you time when looking for content and support your content discovery journey. 

🚀 News on the personalised learning recommendations feature

You would have received an email last month about the personalised learning updates that were set to land in all portals. The updates to recommendations have been in early access for a few months now. 

Since sending that email, we have received some feedback from our early access users that has inspired us to do some more work on this feature before releasing to all customers - to make sure we are bringing you the best experience. 

Never fear, this release is still shipping soon and you can expect to enjoy:

New recommended content block on portal dashboards - if the Suggested Courses for you setting is switched on in Portal Settings. 

New topics of interest form, which when completed will adjust the content suggestions users see on their dashboard.  

New account setting called Recommendations, where users can manage their interests.  

In case you missed it, Go1's 1-Player is coming soon - November 5th! With the aptly named 1-Player, we've reimagined your learning experience on the Go1 platform. 

The new feature will allow users to undertake learning across all courses and standalone resources in one streamlined and modern interface. Keep an eye out for more information next week, this is an exciting one!

Go1 Product update: catch up on all the exciting new features launching in November 🚀 

Introducing our newest feature (drumroll please): learning recommendations. 

With the new tailored content suggestions, Go1 is bringing personalisation to the forefront of the learning journey by taking steps to capture and understand individual learning interests. The updates have been in early access for a few months - thank you to those who have been early adopters of the feature!

Portals which enable the Suggested Courses for you option in Portal Settings will see a new block on their dashboard with five recommended learning items. Users can also personalise these recommendations by selecting topics they are interested in learning more about. There is a new block at the bottom of the dashboard, prompting users to select their topics.

If a user has previously added topics of interest on their portal, the topics will carry over with this update and appear in a list at the bottom of their dashboard.

Topics can be updated using the Update Settings button. 

All users will now see a new tab under their Account Settings called Recommendations. Here users can add/update their topics of interest.
