This month our focus is on wellbeing. Student, staff, social and cyber wellbeing, with quality content partners teaching educators how to be mindful and safe in the workplace and online.

Our wellbeing is vital to our ability to thrive in the workplace. And, just as importantly, for our students to learn. In this issue, we are spotlighting partners who we believe are shining the light on how to be safe and well at school and in an online workplace or learning environment.

Which awesome new content partners have we added to the platform this month?

The Wellbeing Distillery have developed a beginner's course on Positive Psychology and how to apply this to a whole-school context. Backed by a multitude of science and theoretical research, the course also packs in easy tips and tricks to create a warm, welcoming and wholesome environment for students and staff.

The Cybersafety Project focusses on social media presence and gaming in their interactive course. Being safe in an increasingly virtual world is at the forefront of modern education and this is a critical and insightful course for all K-12 teachers with students learning on digital devices.

Culture Shock aims to make a whole-school change towards better wellbeing and a positive culture through Kylie Dermody's course. With practical and applicable tools, you can assess what your own school culture feels like and make a change today.

Which great content partners should you check out this month?

Michaela Epstein at Maths Teacher Circles has developed a course to be implemented by K-12 teachers, directly into the classroom. The interactive videos and activities invite teachers to try new strategies and includes professional learning methods that will get teachers excited again about teaching maths. 

Based on the ground-breaking work of global education leader Joanne McEachen and her team of international education experts at The Learner First, embark on an inspiring journey in The Contributive Learning interactive course. Bringing together decades of experience at all levels of education, their research-proven tools and processes have been used in thousands of schools around the world.

EC's own Edupreneur course gives teachers the 'how'. Teachers already know what needs to be done to improve education, but they may lack the support and processes to bring it to life—and that's where this course comes in. Take a walk through our 5 stages of innovation and learn how to unleash change from the classroom up. Straightforward, highly practical and kick-in-the-pants inspirational, this course is the new companion for teachers to make education work.

Located in the Western suburbs of Sydney, Doonside Technology is a 7-12 school that has been connected with EC for four years now. The team at EC have collaborated with the Head Teachers to improve the quality of teaching and enhance outcomes for all students through the development of targeted Faculty Management Plans. Helping others feel good is at the heart of effective selling and customer service. These are the headline topics for our August playlists: “Cultivate Customer Satisfaction: Introduction to Customer Service” and “Elevate Your Sales Skills: Strategies for Selling.” In this edition, we’re spotlighting three of the content providers featured on these playlists: AssembleYou, Skillshub, and Thrive. 

What content partners should you check out this month?

Specializing in short, actionable courses, AssembleYou is a great choice for business skills, strategy, project management, and personal development (among many other topics). They are based in the UK, yet create training designed for global audiences. Many of the 230 AssembleYou courses available in the Content Hub feature an audio format and open with this guidance: “Sit back, close your eyes and listen. Better still, play this in the car, while gardening, or out jogging.”  More than half their courses are 30 minutes or shorter, with the longest course lasting 180 minutes. 

Skillshub is an engaging UK-based partner that offers micro-learning courses that can be taken as stand-alone learning experiences or sequenced together into learning pathways. With 888 courses currently in the Content Hub, Skillshub covers topics ranging from sales and customer service to diversity and wellbeing. Most courses, which vary in length from 2 to 25 minutes, are accompanied by a job aid to help transfer learning into real-world action. (There are three comprehensive courses, such as the Retail Sales Academy, that are more than 2 hours.)  

Known for their visual appeal and thoughtful content, Thrive courses and documents are a favorite of many learners. They offer 316 learning experiences in the Content Hub on contemporary topics such as reducing mental health stigma, neurodiversity, empathy, and flexible thinking, along with traditional topics like teamwork and hiring. Thrive calls the UK home, but also offers many of their courses in Italian as well as English.

What new content partners have we added to the Content Hub?

dss+ (formerly DuPont Sustainable Solutions) 

This new content provider, based in the US, offers courses on workplace safety, compliance, manufacturing, and soft skills.   

They feature 145 microlearning courses ranging from 5 to 15 minutes. Each course features a video, summary, and assessment. 

Titles include: The New Normal: Emergency Communication Plan for Employers; Safety Matters: Lockout/ Tagout; and Pause for Performance: Compassion. 

dss+ courses are currently available in English…but additional languages are coming soon! 

With 88 courses in the content hub, this new UK-based provider expands content coverage in the areas of communication, leadership, coaching, negotiation, and other critical soft skills.   

Courses by Maguire have a consistent UX, featuring an animated facilitator who guides learners through the experience. Each course is available in English and is 30 minutes in duration. 

Titles include: Mental Health Awareness; Understanding Different Personality Types; Giving Constructive Feedback; How to Mentor Effectively; and Coaching Using the GROW Model. 

The 16 new courses from US-based Get Control! are designed to “help digital workers get control, save time and get more done.” 

Each video-driven course is 30 minutes long and is available in English. 

Titles include: Get Control! of Email and Outlook; Get Control! of Google Search; Get Control! of OneDrive and SharePoint; and Get Control! of Digital Time Management. 

The 50 courses from this new content provider expand topic coverage ranging from business strategy and leadership to digital skills and teamwork. 

Soundview courses, all of which are 30 minutes or shorter, provide learners with PDF book summaries and videos featuring key insights from leading business authors. 

Titles include: 5 Ways to be an active learner; What is authentic leadership?; How to stop procrastinating; Connect with your people; and How to build a high engagement culture. 

This new content provider offers in-depth courses on human resources, business skills, leadership, and health & wellbeing. 

Designed using the ADDIE Adult Learning model, Velsoft courses are between two and four hours long and include explicit learning objectives, pre-and post-assessments, and lists for further reading. 

This content provider is based in Canada and all courses are in English. 

Titles include Human Resource Training: HR for the non-HR Manager; Public Speaking: Presentation Survival School; Managing Pressure and Maintaining Balance; and The ABC's of Supervising Others. 

What’s Shannon’s favorite course right now? 

I recently attended a session at our annual sales kick-off about identifying your strengths and weaknesses at work. The session dug into how we can find our strengths and the benefits of leaning into those areas to be happier and more fulfilled at work.  After the session, I went looking in Go1 to see what courses I could recommend providing a similar outcome and came across Identifying Your Strengths by ej4. I love ej4’s simple approach to training, offering a quick video, typically 3-7 minutes, followed by a quiz.  Most courses offer a downloadable resource as well.  This course gives easy steps to identify your strengths, how to ask for feedback from your peers, and the benefits of using a career coach to maximize your strengths.

The Go1 Content Insider - July 2022 edition

Creating a culture of learning is about continuously providing opportunities for your employees to learn and grow. Going forward, the Content Insider Blog will provide specific examples of content that you can roll out to your employees in the following month to keep your employees engaged with content all year round, while still keeping you informed of new content partners, new content, and existing partners to check out.

Our suggested playlists for July focus on two very important topics: Leadership and Office Safety. An introduction to leadership theory, developing trust, managing teams, and taking an empathy-first approach are all part of the playlist titled “Get Results Through Others: Intro to Leadership & Management.” Included in the “Enhance Health & Safety: Office Environments” playlist are courses on situational awareness, ergonomics, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and simple exercises that can be done at your desk. In this blog, we’re spotlighting three of the content partners featured on these playlists: Filtered, Pinktum, and Marcom. For over four years, UK-based content partner Filtered has been offering engaging, high-quality courses through the Content Hub. They currently have 38 titles on topics ranging from Microsoft Excel to data science to critical thinking. Filtered specializes in in-depth learning. Their courses are all more than an hour-long, with their longest course lasting 32 hours! Each course begins with a detailed pre-assessment that directs learners to areas of focus. Learners can take the entire course or focus on high-priority chapters within it.

Pinktum (formerly Pink University) has been creating high-impact learning experiences for over 25 years. They offer over 200 courses through the Content Hub, many of them featuring localized language support in Chinese, German, Spanish, and French. Based in Germany, Pinktum develops content for global audiences on topics such as design thinking, conflict resolution, virtual teams, scrum, and storytelling in the workplace.

Specializing in the manufacturing, healthcare, and industrial space, Marcom is a leading partner of traditional -style health and safety learning experiences. Their current Content Hub offering is over 1000 courses… and is growing! Marcom recently added industry-specific versions of their “Workplace Violence” course. If you need content on construction, industrial hygiene, PPE (and so much more), this partner has you covered.

What new content partner have we added to the Content Hub? 

This new content partner, based in Germany, provides courses on sustainability, data compliance, information security, digital skills, and diversity & inclusion.

What’s Shannon’s favorite course right now?  

Finding a favorite course this month was a bit tough. I have been diving into the new content partner, Emeritus, that we introduced in May, and have taken a variety of courses – everything from The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker to The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. Emeritus courses are typically 20-30 minutes and are a great way to get in a little professional or personal development in your day. Their courses would also make a great lunch and learn – watching a course as a group and then having discussions after. As a leader, I found Setting a Vision for the Future particularly helpful.

Feeling safe and secure is fundamental to doing our best work. There are a lot of factors that help us feel safe at work, including our ability to be ourselves in the workplace. In this issue, we are spotlighting partners who teach us how to be safe and how to help others feel safe, in a variety of ways.

Thomson Reuters has been a trusted source of truth for years and they bring that credibility to a suite of compliance and regulation courses. With over 750 titles in the Content Hub, Thomson Reuters covers topics from anti-bribery and fraud prevention to code of conduct and the California Consumer Privacy Act. Though they are based in Toronto, Canada, they offer region-specific and global courses. Their courses range from 5 minutes to 2 hours, with the majority between 30-60 minutes.

Australian-based content provider ViaUp offers high-quality, often whimsical (but still serious and substantial) health and safety eLearning experiences. Featuring animated videos, their 21 courses are refreshingly modern, especially in the health and safety space. All their courses are under one hour, with most them between 15 and 30 minutes.  

ViaUp’s Office Ergonomics course, hosted by a crash test dummy, is a crowd favorite. Other great courses include:

Blue Ocean Strategy (a suite of three courses) 

Founded in 2009, US-based Enspark features titles focused on leadership, human resources, general management, people and communication skills, HR compliance, computer science & engineering, and personal development. They have 100 titles available in the Content Hub, 28 of which are in languages other than English (including Chinese, Polish, and Turkish). All but one of their courses are under an hour in duration.

EasyLlama uses a fresh approach to emphasize the importance of creating a safe environment in the workplace.

Whether it’s decisions about people or about projects, understanding why we are making those decisions and the biases that may be playing a role is important to ensure that we get it right. I recently took Debiasing Techniques, which walks through how to recognize your unconscious biases and challenge your decisions to make sure they were being made with the right criteria. I love the gamification that Symmetra uses in their courses to create engaging content about topics that can often be tough to tackle, like sexism, diversity and inclusions, and bullying and harassment.

In April we’re taking some time to focus on compassion – compassion for the planet, compassion for ourselves, and compassion for those whose brains work a little differently. Our April playlists “Take the Long View” and “Respect Neural Differences” explore personal and environmental sustainability and neurodiversity awareness. In this issue we’re spotlighting three of the content partners featured on these playlists: Mind Tools, Emerald Works, and Access Group.  

What content partners should you check out this month? 

For current perspectives and insights on a variety of professional and personal development topics, London-based Mind Tools is a great choice.  Founded in 1996, their goal has always been “to help everyone have a happy and successful career.” 

Mind Tools offers over 2000 titles in the Content Hub covering subjects from cultural competency, to OKRs, to dealing with rumors in the workplace. Their courses are fact-checked articles, podcasts, and videos ranging from 1 minute to over an hour (with most titles under 15 minutes).  

Emerald Works, which is owned by the same parent company as Mind Tools, is a top partner for high-quality courses on leadership and soft skills.  The 38 courses in their “101” series offer a highly engaging and complete learner experience. (Many of the 101 courses open with a whimsical poem to pique learners’ curiosity and make them smile.) Based in the UK, Emerald Works has 98 titles in the Content Hub, ranging from 3 to 60 minutes. Most of the 101 courses are an hour long. 

Also based in the UK, The Access Group is committed to “delivering the learning your employees need to drive their development.”  They offer 119 titles in the Content Hub, featuring a modern design and focusing on leadership, health & safety, and sales & customer service.  In addition to titles under their own name, The Access Group has recently acquired several other top content partners, including MicroLearn (who are part of this month’s playlists).

What new social good partners have we been working with?

We’re excited to be supporting the Equality Institute to develop five new modules as part of their Gender Quality Foundations program. Created in collaboration with diverse leaders across America and Australia, the content will feature interviews with thought leaders on race, sex, disability, and domestic abuse. We’ve just wrapped filming across our various locations and are excited to announce a delivery date of June 2022. This content will be exclusive to Go1 Connect and Content Hub. 

We’re currently asking for partners and customers to give feedback and be the first to experience these modules in May 2022. 

As we prepare for May, Domestic Violence Prevention Month, we’re glad to see a spike in demand for effective training for workplaces to be able to recognize, respond and refer when it comes to sexism, misogyny, domestic abuse, and coercive control at work.  

We’re proud of our partners, Challenge DV, who’ve recently trained more than 80,000 employees in the Queensland Government in responding to domestic abuse. A previous participant in the Go1 Social Good Incubator Program, their award-winning training is seeing the highest engagement rate for any training we’ve ever released. 

This training is accessible to all Go1 customers and partners. It requires an organization to complete a short audit by Challenge DV before it can be released, which we’re happy to facilitate. Please reach out to your CSM and they will put you in contact with our impact team. 

Go1 and Challenge DV have committed to developing training on sexual harassment and male champions of change, that has a scheduled release date of September 2022 for Go1’s Content Hub for all subscribers.

In my own professional development, I have been focusing on leadership and, more specifically, how I can be a human-centered leader.  I’ve taken courses on leadership styles, servant leadership, and most recently Empathetic Leadership by Atheneum Collective, one of our newer partners. As a content partner, I love Atheneum’s approach to learning, providing in-depth courses with videos and resources (check out their Cultivating Happiness course), and this course was no different. I particularly liked the lesson on empowerment. It gave me some great tips on how to engage with employees to best empower them to learn and grow in their jobs. If you are looking at ways to lead your employees with empathy and help them succeed, this course is worth checking out.

What’s Ben’s favorite course right now? 

Hi, my name is Ben Richardson and I’ve recently joined Go1 as Chief Content Officer. My team and I oversee all of Go1’s content that learners love and our corporate partners value. Prior to joining Go1 I had spent my career working in media as a writer, producer, programmer, and many other roles in between. My jobs have always required me to be focused on audiences. Measuring what media they’ve consumed and trying to predict what they’re going to do next. I loved looking for patterns in behaviour as well as cultural and generational differences that would impact taste and habit. I consumed so much data on a daily basis though noticed so much of what I read I quickly forgot. I’d always loved learning even if I wasn’t the best student though always struggled with my memory. I wanted it to be … photographic!  

I tried so many different things to improve my memory. I read books about card counting, stopped eating wheat after watching a documentary on celiacs and meditated every morning for nearly a week!  (I wasn’t that committed and missed my sleep). Then I’d test my memory skills expecting a miraculous transformation and a pathway to genius. Sadly here I am, still confusing my son and my dogs names!!! 

First thing I did when I joined Go1 search for courses that would satisfy my curiosity and landed on Neurohacking. The Expert Academy courses promise to help me reduce stress, learn faster and reach peak mental performance. Even better the courses are short and visual. They are among the most engaging and popular courses, with positive feedback from learners and administrators alike. 

Common Ground: Sexual Harassment and Abusive Conduct Prevention 

This US-based provider offers high-quality courses in architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing, along with some general business and leadership courses. 

Their courses feature videos and interactive elements and are available in 43 languages. (That’s right – 43 different languages!) 

Courses range from 10 to 300 minutes, with the majority of them being over 30 minutes.

As I was looking at the newly added courses, I was intrigued by iAM Learning’s personal development courses, so I took the Bring Your Whole Self to Work course. I love the conversations currently going on in the learning and development space about how we can better support employees and managers by encouraging more open and honest conversations that go beyond who people are at work and their performance. This course offered some great guidance on how to be authentic at work, as well as how to help others be. In my career, the people who have made the biggest impact on my work and personal life have been those who supported me in all aspects of my life and allowed me to be me. I’d encourage this course for anyone needing a little reminder about how we are more than just our job titles.
