Big news today for Go1 – we’ve raised more than $25 million in our Series B funding round!

M12, Microsoft’s venture fund, led the Series B funding round, with participation from existing investors SEEK, Y Combinator and Our Innovation Fund. 

SEEK chief executive Andrew Bassat said their partnership with Go1.com was mutually beneficial.

“Go1 have a very strong team and do a great job of offering access to content and courses to allow people to up-skill and re-skill themselves for work,” Mr Bassat said. “We look forward to leveraging our experience, technology and relationships with millions of people and organisations across the globe to help Go1 achieve its potential.”

We also welcomed Larsen Ventures, the investment arm of Peter Larsen (co-founder of Navitas, one of Australia’s largest education providers) as a new investor. 

As part of the raise, M12 will also have a seat at the board. 

This is a huge milestone for the Go1 team and signals a new stage of growth for our company. 

Since launching in 2015, we have been working to continually improve Go1 by developing our learning platform, scaling the number of partners contributing learning materials to Go1, and providing world class customer service, all while helping to make learning more accessible to everyone across the world. 

As Go1 grew, so did our team, evolving from a small team in our Brisbane HQ to a team of over 100 employees working across office locations right around the world. 

Our Series A funding round saw us raise $10 million, with support from investors including Shark Tank’s Steve Baxter, Tank Stream Ventures, Black Sheep Capital, Blue Sky Venture Capital and Full Circle Venture Capital. 

We are thrilled to have M12 and Larsen Ventures join this list of investors. 

The results of this Series B funding round will further fuel Go1's growth, allowing us to keep improving our product, scaling our global team, and solidifying our presence in international markets with a focus on continuing our expansion into the United States, and opening up our first office in the United Kingdom. 

Most importantly, this funding allows us to continue working towards our vision of providing the best learning opportunities to improve lives through education and training.

As 2018 draws to a close, we thought we’d look back at some of the highlights of the past year – it’s been a very busy and exciting time for the Go1 team!

Here’s a little of what we’ve been up to throughout 2018.

Go1 Recognised in Top Startup and Business Lists

This year we were very excited to see Go1 named as one of the top 20 outstanding Australian “Businesses of Tomorrow”, from 200 businesses selected by Westpac for 2018.

The companies were recognised for their vision and drive to help shape the nation’s economic future, with this year’s applicants demonstrating the scale of movement of the Australian economy into a digital world.

“We are thrilled and honoured to be named in Westpac’s Top 20 Businesses of Tomorrow,” Go1 co-founder and CEO, Andrew Barnes, said.

2018 also saw Go1 ranked 12th on LinkedIn’s annual Top 25 Startups list.

This list honours the most sought-after startups where professionals want to work and stay in Australia and is derived from a blended score looking at factors including interest in the company, engagement with employees, job interest and retention.

“We’re excited to be included in this list alongside all of these great companies. The list really shows the strength of the Australian startup ecosystem,” said GO co-founder and CGO, Dr. Vu Tran.

Helping Companies Improve their Learning Culture

Throughout the year, we partnered with many businesses to help them improve the way they deliver and manage their employee training.

We teamed up with Claim Central, to help them deliver effective employee training with a cloud-based learning platform that all staff can access, regardless of geographical location.

We also helped Mid-Cape Home Centers to fulfill all of their training and development needs with Go1 Premium, with pre-built content a very important feature for the company.

And we provided Discover Goodwill with the perfect solution for the company’s learning needs, allowing them the freedom to create their own content and deliver it to staff easily and effectively.

Working with ALARA, we were able to provide staff with an onsite, one-day first aid training course through our newly launched Training Assist – the easier way to source, book and deliver training.

We look forward to sharing more case studies with you in the new year, so you can see first-hand how Go1 is helping companies to deliver improved learning to their teams.

At Go1 we believe in bringing the learning community together so that we can all share our knowledge and help everyone to improve the way that they learn and train their team.

In July, we held the first of our Brisbane Learning & Technology Meetups, with some of Brisbane’s best learning content creators speaking about how they go about creating effective learning content.

We followed this up with our inaugural Melbourne meetup, which focused on ‘Content Curation vs Content Creation’ and which is the better option.

Our meetups are for learning and development professionals who want to discuss best practices, strategies, and innovation in learning design, delivery and instructional technology.

We'll be hosting more meetups in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne every quarter in the new year and invite you to get involved in the conversation. You’ll be sure to walk away with some fresh solutions that you can start applying in your workplace straight away!

At Go1, we’re continually making improvements and updates to the Go1 platform, to make life easier for you – and your learners.

Throughout the year, we launched a stack of new tools to help you save time and streamline the way that you deliver learning material.

Go1.com has been named one of the top 20 outstanding Australian “Businesses of Tomorrow”, from 200 selected by Westpac for 2018. The companies were recognised for their vision and drive to help shape the nation’s economic future.

Go1 was recently reviewed by FinancesOnline, a popular independent B2B software review platform read by millions of businesses seeking to find the best software solution for facilitating their day-to-day tasks. After their team of software experts found our award-winning learning management platform exceptional for managing learners with ease advancing their capabilities, Go1 received their 2018 Great User Experience award.

The effects of growing up disadvantaged go beyond the home environment. For the 1.1 million Australian children and young people living in poverty today, this can have a negative effect on their school lives and in-turn mean they are less likely to achieve educational outcomes (and in turn employment outcomes) required to build a better future for themselves.

Over 20% of non-government schools get access to Go1’s powerful training platform.

Go1, the world’s largest on-boarding, compliance and professional development platform, has sealed a deal with CompliSpace, a leading provider of governance, risk and compliance learning, that will expand Go1’s user base by more than 50,000 users and position it as a leading player in the school training space.

Under the agreement over 20% of non-government schools across Australia will have access to Go1’s powerful training platform. This makes it easier for teachers and school administrators to maintain compliance policies and procedures in-line with legal requirements, provide access to teacher development courses and maintain records on training topics like child protection.

CompliSpace is a leading provider of Governance, Risk and Compliance and Policy Management programs, training and consulting. Its content and GRC platforms help organisations establish and follow policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements. CompliSpace helps organisations across the education, financial, not-for-profit and commercial sectors, including over 20% of non-government schools and 25 education authorities in every state and territory.

The major appeal for CompliSpace is how Go1’s platform lets teachers access content anytime, anywhere via mobile and desktop, as well as helping schools to maintain records on important topics like child protection, workplace safety, student duty of care and privacy. CompliSpace Child Protection Programs help to protect around 400,000 Australian students and the Go1 platform will help embed understanding of those policies and procedures among teachers, staff and volunteers.

In the past six months, Go1 has quadrupled its user base from 100,000 to 600,000, and now offers over 150,000 courses. The online learning and training marketplace also hosts over a quarter of a million learning assets, from videos to quizzes.

Mr Barnes’ former school, Cannon Hill Anglican College in Queensland, is one of the 600-plus schools that will initially benefit from the partnership. Vice-principal Gary O’Brien said it will make compliance and professional development much easier.

“As a vice-principal, it’s my job to make sure the school is staying on top of our legal obligations when it comes to compliance. It gives us peace-of-mind to know that everything is updated automatically and we don’t have to worry about staying abreast of every legal change. We’ve already been able to replace spreadsheets through the platform and our teachers will now be able to access all their training needs on their mobiles. It’s a huge step forward. But most importantly, it’s our students who end up benefiting through the knock-on effect,” Mr O’Brien said.

James Field co-founded CompliSpace with David Griffiths when they saw significant inefficiencies in the way schools and other sectors were trying to manage their legal and regulatory obligations.
